All is Well

Sorry, sorry, sorry.

But I have my excuses. Summer is supposed to be a time of fun. As much fun as can possibly be squeezed into such a short season. I don’t have to make the fun, but I am expected to support the fun and sometimes it is a full-time job.

Summer visitors, picnics, meals, support for Hub’s fishing expeditions and barbecue efforts, and don’t we have a new (used) camper out back that Hub wants to get on the road. An engineering miracle with four sides that folds up like a Rubik’s cube into the size of a tent trailer. Pics later.

And then there are beans and peas and zucchini till hell wouldn’t have them, screaming to be picked. Cukes as well.

It leaves little time for writing – so that is where I’ve been. Playing in the sand and kneeling in the dirt. Don’t tell anyone but sometimes I curse summer and scream for winter. Just so I can write more and read more.

But all is well --- and hear ye, hear ye. Hub’s rhubarb wine is better than ever this year.

Well, thank goodness! I was afraid you'd crashed your computer or something dire. Nice to read your words again. Keep 'em coming. Oh, and enjoy what's left of summer. Its back is broken, you know.

You don't owe us any explanations Roberta.....it sounds like you are enjoying summer and life in general.....that's all we need to know. Beautiful. Rhubarb wine huh? Cheers. ~Joy

Thanks all of you -- joy, pauline, and kate, for dismissing my irresponsibility so agreeably.

kate, I like your reference to 'summer's back being broken'. If I pick any more garden produce mine will be broken as well.

But already the days are starting to shorten (let's not think about that just yet, though). In the meantime A toast to all of you and what is left of summer. Raise your rhubarb wine-glass high. We'll talk later.

I'll toast to all with the rhubarb wine though I've never had any. I do like rhubarb pie, so am sure I would like the wine.

Sounds like a wonderful family summer -- treasure the time -- write the memories -- share them here if you like and we'll enjoy them with you.

Tried to add this comment yesterday, but ever since an earthquake out here my computer leaves me in the lurch in the middle of things and then can't access the Internet until hours or a day later.

Thanks for the toast to good times, joared. I will treasure them as you so wisely suggest, and yes, I am quite certain you would like the wine. It's a delicate pink like a rosee and this year a bit sweeter -- about a 3 for sweetness. Very nice with a fine dinner.
